Fall is in the air in DeKalb County and our Apple Orchards are open for the season! DeKalb County, with almost 90% of it’s acreage still in farmland, has some of the best Fall Fun anywhere. Our Apple Orchards contain corn maze’s, apple trains, petting zoos, hayrides and of course some of the very best cider and apple donuts you can find. Come to Yaeger’s Farm Market’s Fall Festival October 3rd – 25th. There will be free tractor drawn hayrides to the Pumpkin Patch on weekends and Columbus Day. All Pumpkins are $2.50, $4 or $7 each. . Kids and adults alike will love the 5 Acre Corn Maze and One Acre Playland that includes an Inflatable Bounce House and Castle, Farm Animals, Straw Pyramid, Wooden Castle, Train, Ship and more! The corn maze at Jonamac Orchard in Malta this year celebrates our local first responders and their commitment to serving and protecting our community. They will be holding their popular Haunted Corn Maze for 11 nights this year. It will be open October 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30 & 31. It will begin at Dark and end at 10:30 p.m. The Haunted Corn Maze admission will be $13.00 per person. The Haunted Maze is recommended for those 13 years of age and up. Flashlights will not be allowed in the Haunted Maze, only glow sticks or pen lights. In the event of rain they will be closed for the evening.
Their pick your own pumpkin patch is now open seven days a week for the season. All pumpkins from the pick-your-own field are sold for $0.39/lb. All of their outside activities are now open weekends; the Corn Maze, Barn Yard, Petting Zoo, Apple Train, Apple Launcher and Cannon and wagon rides. See their “Pumpkin Howitzer” in action! Make sure to check their calendar of events for each weekend’s special activities. The Country Store and Bakery are open seven days a week.

What started out as a simple farm stand has grown to include pick your own apples, raspberries and pumpkins, a bakery with awesome apple donuts, the Apple Barn Country Store and family activities such as a farm petting zoo, straw pyramid and weekend wagon rides. Young and old alike will enjoy taking a horse drawn wagon ride in the orchard on Phil Nielsen’s Belgian Horses. U-pick – closes at 5:00 p.m. with the last weekend wagon leaving at 4:30 p.m. Pumpkin Prices are .35 per pound.
