Custom Aluminum of Genoa and South Elgin presented DeKalb County Community Gardens with a check to be used for the newly constructed and soon to open Genoa Area Community Food Hub (GACFH). The GACFH will address the root causes of poverty and provide economic vitality that has the potential to transform Genoa and the surrounding area for years to come.
Custom Aluminum Products is a family owned and operated business that is recognized as a leader in the aluminum extrusion industry. Founded in 1960, the company grew from a small storm door & window manufacturer to our current 800,000 square feet of manufacturing space comprised of facilities in South Elgin and Genoa, IL. The money was combined contribution from all the staff and administration, all the employees giving together.

This December, DCCG will open doors to the new Genoa Area Community Food Hub on Main Street, Genoa. The GACFH occupies a multi-purpose space that includes under one roof:
- Expanded food pantry to serve Genoa residents as well as those in the surrounding area.
- A state-of-the-art kitchen for nutrition and cooking education/demonstrations and rental/incubator space for small and start-up food-related enterprises.
- Small, pay-as-you-can café that nourishes and provides a gathering spot for local residents from all walks of life.
By combining a food pantry, kitchen, food hub and community café, the GACFH will bring increased fresh food access to all area residents.
Future collaborations between DCCG and local faith-based, social services, education institutions, and other community-based organizations will enrich the benefits and program offerings at the GACFH.
