|Local Educators Recognized for Excellence
The Community Foundation and DeKalb County Regional Office of Education recently recognized local educators and support staff during the annual Excellence in Education Awards reception. Recipients were from Genoa-Kingston, Hiawatha, and Sycamore school districts. Over the past 22 years, the event has recognized 109 educators and distributed $109,000 in awards. |YEP Seeks High School Students for Membership
Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) is once again seeking membership applications from local high school students. Students from Hiawatha, Hinckley Big-Rock, and Sandwich high schools are highly encouraged to apply. YEP builds life skills, leadership, and long lasting value for high school students in DeKalb County.

Nonprofit and public sector service organizations are encouraged to apply for funding through the Community Needs and Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund grant programs. The application deadline is September 1 for both grant programs.
Community Needs Grants – Provide support for the charitable needs and efforts of our local nonprofit and community organizations.
Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund Grants – Provide support to organizations for music and music education.
