The Sheriff’s Office announces the conclusion of a drug investigation that began Oct. 1, 2017.
The investigation started Oct. 1 when two County Jail inmates, Angelica Sanders D.O.B. 1/13/88 of Sycamore and Nichole Senatre D.O.B. 6/29/84 of DeKalb, suffered medical related issues from heroin ingestion. Both inmates were transported to Kishwaukee Hospical October 1st at approximately 5:15pm. Prior to transport one of the two inmates, Ms. Sanders, was revived by a corrections officer who administered Narcan, an emergency treatment for know or suspected opioid overdose. Both individuasl were treated and released by the hospital to return to the County Jail in Sycamore by 8:30pm the same evening.
A criminal investigation and an internal operations review were instituted immediately and have been ongoing. The internal operation review showed that hygiene products with heroin concealed inside were brought to the jail by an individual unaware of the contents at approximately 3:25pm October 1st. The products were left for inmate Nicole Senatre, and she along with inmate Angelica Sanders had arranged for the delivery to the jail. After receiving the hygiene products at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon, both Sanders and Senatre secretly ingested the heroin. It was determined later that the heroin was found to be laced with the drug Fentanyl.
Ms. Sanders has been in jail since July 20th, 2017, and Ms. Senatre since May 11th, 2017. The internal review determined that the hygiene products were not screened properly by a Sheriff’s Deputy and internal disciplinary action has been taken.
At the same time the internal review was going on, a criminal investigation sought to determine the source of the heroin. Sheriff’s investigators with the assistance of the Rockford Police Department found that Anthony M. Murphy D.O.B. 7/25/85 of Rockford, IL was the original source of the heroin and a warrrant for Drug Induced Infliction of Great Bodily Harm (Class 1 Felony) and Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Class X Felony) has been issued for Mr. Murphy.
In addition, it was determined that Ms. Sanders and Ms. Senatre conspired to have the heroin smuggled into the jail. Ms. Sanders is charged with Unlawful Possession of Contraband in a Penal Institution (Class 1 Felony), and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony). Ms. Sanders is currently in custody in the DeKalb County Jail as a result of previous charges for possession of controlled substance. Ms. Senatre has warrants issued for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Penal Institution and Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was recently transported to the Illinois Department of Corrections after receiving a sentence of 10 years for Aggravated DUI, and 2 years for Theft.
