UPDATE 9/15/17:
On September 14th , 2017, the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office conducted the autopsy of
Jeremy Jacobson. At this time, the cause of death has not been determined. Due to
decomposition, further testing and analysis of the evidence is needed to determine the cause and manner of death. We will continue to provide updates to the investigation.
Original Release: On the morning of September 13th , 2017, the DeKalb Police Department assisted the Sycamore Police Department in the search for Jeremy J. Jacobson, a 47 year old male, who was reported missing to the Sycamore Police Department on September 6 th , 2017. A citizen, familiar with the missing person investigation, observed Jacobson’s bicycle in a wooded area off of the 3000 block of North First Street in DeKalb. The Sycamore Police Department and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit assisted in the search for Jacobson at which time a deceased male, was found nearby. The preliminary investigation has identified the deceased as Jeremy Jacobson and an autopsy has been scheduled for September 14th , 2017. At this time, there appears to be no eminent public safety risk, however this information will be updated subsequent to the autopsy results and further investigation.
