Cynthia Stonesifer, Director of Financial Aid at Kishwaukee College, announced applications are now available for the College’s 2016 – 17 Academic Achievement Awards. The Academic Achievement Awards are available for high school students graduating this spring who excel academically. Academic Achievement Awards are a $1,000 scholarship per semester that is valid for four semesters (Fall 2016, Spring 2017, Fall 2017, and Spring 2018).
Academic Achievement Awards are available to any in-district high school graduate who ranks in the top 25% of their graduating class. Interested high school seniors must submit an application, two letters of recommendation from high school teachers, provide a statement of educational goals and plans, and a copy of their seventh-semester high school transcript (followed by final transcript after graduation, submitted before August 19, 2016). Academic Achievement Award recipients are expected have their registration for Fall 2016 completed by June 30. To retain the Award each semester, students must enroll in and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn a minimum GPA of 3.1.
Academic Achievement Awards require the student file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before applying for the Awards. Guidance offices of in-district high schools have received information and Achievement Award applications. The Achievement Awards application must be received by or have a postmark of April 11, 2016.
