Earlier this week, Shift 3 proudly recognized FF/PM Alex “Garfield” Halterman and FF/PM Josh Aros for officially completing their probationary period. In a meaningful ceremony surrounded by their crew, both firefighters were presented with their shields — a symbol of dedication, perseverance, and commitment to the job.
Probation is more than just a timeline. It’s months of training, learning, earning trust, and proving yourself every shift. It means stepping into the firehouse ready to grow, ready to serve, and ready to uphold the standards of the department. Alex and Josh did exactly that.
Receiving a shield isn’t just a formality — it represents becoming a fully entrusted member of the team. It reflects the hard work put in on calls, during drills, and in the day-to-day responsibilities that come with serving the community.
Shift 3 is proud to call Alex and Josh their own. The future of the department is strong.
Congratulations, Alex and Josh — well earned and well deserved.
