DeKalb, IL — Downtown DeKalb will come alive with holiday spirit on Thursday, December 4, as the community comes together for an evening of festive entertainment, shopping, treats, and twinkling lights. The highlight of the celebration will be the enchanting “Dancers in the Windows,” featuring talented performers from Dimensions Dance Academy appearing in the windows of downtown merchants from 5:00–7:00 p.m.
In partnership with the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, the night will also include the annual Santa Comes to Town procession, with Santa making his cheerful arrival at 6:00 p.m. Families are invited to gather downtown to stroll and watch the dancers, welcome Santa, and enjoy the magic that lights up the season for Lights on Lincoln. You’ll want to be present as the downtown trees and decorations illuminate to mark the official start of the holidays in DeKalb.
Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of festive offerings throughout the downtown, including spirited drinks-to-go, small bites to enjoy while strolling, special in-store sales, and unique activities hosted by community groups. Guests may find everything from roasting s’mores with Century 21 Circle and creating bookmarks with the DeKalb Public Library, handmade cards with Michaels, to the always-popular TAILS Humane Society ‘Doggies in the windows’. Additional surprises and holiday treats will be available as merchants and organizations join in the spirit of the season.
“This event truly captures the heart of our community,” said Miranda Cordes, Artistic Director of Dimensions Dance, “From the artistry of the dancers to the glow of the lights and the excitement of Santa’s arrival, it’s a perfect way for families, friends, and neighbors to celebrate the season together.”
