Beyblade Tournament
Time: 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

“3! 2! 1! Let it rip!” Put your Beyblade skills to the test when you compete in head-to-head battles. Do you have what it takes to be the one? A tournament bracket will be created prior to the program based on registration. The first battle will begin at 2:00 p.m. and winners will progress through the tournament bracket. There will also be a free-play area with a variety of arenas to use for non-registrants and Bladers knocked out of the tournament. A simple explanation of Beyblade battle rules can be found on Hasbro’s Beyblade site. The last Blader left standing is the tournament champion! The library will provide the arenas, aka Beystadiums, but you must bring your own Beyblade. Any Beyblade you use in the tournament must be name-brand. The library may have a limited supply of Beyblades to borrow, but this is not guaranteed. This program is for children ages 6 and up. You must register at dkpl.org to compete. With expertise from Lincoln Park Zoo and global conservation projects, the presenters bring wildlife education to life. As Ms. Christine enlightens people about the animals and shares fascinating facts, Mr. Scott will walk through the audience with the animal described, bringing the animals right to you for a hands-on experience like no other. Everyone in the audience will have the opportunity to touch most of the animals. Designed for both children and adults, this program offers a unique opportunity to learn about animal behavior, conservation, and the wonders of the natural world. Limited to 100 attendees per show, tickets will begin being handed out half an hour before each show, then collected at the door. Lap-sitting children do not need a ticket. Sewing Machine Maintenance

If you’ve acquired a sewing machine, new or old, you may be wondering how to use its basic functions. Or maybe you have a sewing machine sitting around, needing to be dusted off and refurbished. Bring your sewing machine to this open workshop where you will be guided on how to clean, service, and learn some basic functions for your personal machine. This workshop is intended for tabletop sewing machines that can be easily transported. Please bring all parts, cords, and the manual along with your sewing machine. You may service your machine and are welcome to leave the open workshop when finished. If you are missing your sewing machine manual, there will be contact cards you can fill out so an Adult Reference Specialist may assist you in finding a PDF if it is available.
