Even though we are in the heart of winter, some local children don’t have the proper winter attire.
The Jason Fowler Team with Compass Mortgage has been collecting winter gear for DeKalb/Sycamore schools since the fall. They would greatly appreciate new or gently used donations of gloves, hats, coats, boots, and snow pants.
They got the idea from seeing emails from their kids’ schools asking for winter clothing. Jason Fowler and his assistant, Cary Lekkas, both live in the area.
They switch off between dropping items at DeKalb and Sycamore schools. So far, they have dropped off to Lincoln Elementary (DeKalb), South Prairie Elementary (Sycamore), Little Spartans preschool program (Sycamore), and ELDC preschool (DeKalb) twice. They have received many toddler-sized items!
They hope to continue to take many more donations throughout the year, as items go on clearance at stores and as people clean out their closets!
People can contact them through their Facebook page @jasonfowlercompassmortgage or by email at JasonFowlerTeam@compmort.com.

Tapa La Luna will also serve as a drop off point for this Winter Clothing Drive for local schools
Sometimes it’s a matter of kids losing, damaging or forgetting their winter clothes, too
Stephen Haberkorn yes we go through several pairs of gloves a week at our house!
Jason Fowler – Compass Mortgage Inc My son ripped his winter coat so I bought him a nice new one I got on sale. He lost that one within a week, so now he’s back to wearing his ripped one again 🙁
For people wanting to donate, I saw the Goodwill store has hats, gloves, snow pants. Most are $1.99
Thank you DeKalb County Online! The schools greatly appreciate the donations!
