The elevator in the DeKalb County Administration building at 110 E. Sycamore Street, Sycamore, Illinois, will be out of operation from June 15, 2015 to approximately August 15, 2015, for replacement. The elevator is 30 years old, unreliable and must be replaced for public safety reasons. Access to each floor will continue to be available by the stairs.
The DeKalb County offices that will be affected are the DeKalb County Treasurer, DeKalb County Planning and Zoning, DeKalb County Supervisor of Assessments and the DeKalb County Clerk and
Recorder.
A Visitor Assistance Center, for those who are unable to use the stairs, will be provided on the ground
level of Conference Room East in the Administration Building. Signs will be placed at the building entrances directing citizens to the appropriate offices, or the visitor assistance center.
Taxpayers are reminded that they can pay their second installment of taxes at most local banks or by
mail. The second installment due date is September 3, 2015. The elevator is expected to be in
operation well in advance of the second installment due date.
In addition, the deadline for 2015 Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption Applications
has been extended to September 15, 2015 due to the Administration Building elevator being out of
operation.
