The annual Lincoln Highway Buy-Way in Illinois is now in its eighth year and this year, there will be a new feature, a Cash Grab scavenger hunt. Details on where to start looking for the clues to the hidden cash will be revealed Friday evening, August 8th, 2014, on the Illinois Chapter’s Website at: illinoislincolnhighwayassociation.org
For those looking for bargains, sales in Illinois will begin generally in DeKalb and include towns along the Lincoln Highway, westward to the Mississippi River in Fulton. The DeKalb Area Women’s Center will have sales along the Lincoln Highway in DeKalb near North Eleventh Street. Town-wide yard sales will be in Ashton, Fulton, and Rochelle, with many of the businesses in Rochelle participating heavily. Sales in Fulton will be Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9. The sponsor of the yard sales, the Lincoln Highway Association, is a charitable organization open to all, tracing its roots back to the original organizers of the Lincoln Highway, over a hundred years old. The Lincoln Highway Buy-Way began in Ohio and spread to neighboring states and now spans hundreds of miles across five states. The Lincoln Highway Buy-Way is an annual event, the second weekend of August.
