Join them at the next STEM Cafe to find out how the word “drone” makes people think of warfare, but proponents of autonomous systems see them becoming a part of everyday life. Experts have proposed their use in everything from aerial art to pizza delivery. Join NIU’s Dr. David Gunkel, professor of Communications and author of The Machine Question, and Dr. Abul Azad, professor of Technology, to discuss the capabilities, benefits, and social costs of drones.
STEM Cafés are fun, casual gatherings where adults can eat, drink, and chat with STEM (Science, Technology, Research and Math) professionals about the latest scientific research. This STEM Cafe will be held at O’Leary’s Restaurant and Pub, 260 E. Lincoln Hwy. in downtown DeKalb this Tuesday, November 12th, from 6:30 – 8:30pm.
