Megan Morrison Home and Garden as you’ve known it for the last 11 years will soon no longer be. They are taking the best of it and moving it in with Moxie, their sister store across the street. According to the Moxie blog, “This decision has been a part of our “big picture” for the last 3 years. It has nothing to do with the economy, or being downtown DeKalb. As a matter of fact, we’ve always loved being a part of a historic downtown district and would never have it any other way.”
After a solid 15 years of 60 to 80 hour work weeks for Megan, her sister Courtney and her husband Bob, she thinks she’s “finally come to my senses and decided to schedule in some time for smelling the roses for all of us.” They are also hoping that moving the best of MMHG into Moxie will make it more convenient for their customers having it all under one roof.
In order to help consolidate, Megan Morrison’s is having THE BIG FAT MOVING SALE on Saturday February 12th at 10 am. They will be closed at MMHG from Feb 1st through the 11th to prepare for it. She is going to be bringing in lots of vintage stuff from her house, garage, attic, basement, closets and wherever else she’s crammed it for the last 10 years. These are things that have never even been for sale. Pieces, parts, lamps, chandeliers, projects, whoozits and thing-a-ma-bobs, as she calls them. She might have more stuff to sell than the store can hold so plans on bringing new stuff in as the sale progresses and as room opens up. She plans on using facebook primarily to post photos and information about the new things added to the sale. The sale will last for however long it takes to move her treasures out and the discount will change over the weeks as she sees fit.
The Moxie blog goes on to cover a few questions that might come up including: The building is not going to be for sale or rent. She may host special sales in it a couple of times a year after she take some time off; They won’t be able to hold or reserve any items that you see in photos. It must be first come first serve in person to keep it fair; No returns or gift bags once the sale starts; and Yes you can use credit cards or cash. Moxie is located next to the Lincoln Inn restaurant at 230 E Lincoln Hwy, and Megan Morrison Home & Garden is directly across the street from Moxie at 237 E Lincoln Hwy. in DeKalb.

Gracie, thank you for this timely news! Can you recommend a good gift or two for my granddaughter? She and her husband just bought their first home after recently graduating from college. I would love to send them a housewarming gift. I believe pastels are her color scheme.
