Now that virtually everyone in the country has a big screen HD television, or maybe even several of them, it’s time for the next big thing in television – screens with 4K resolution, or ultra high definition (UHD). These are screens with four times as many pixels as HD resolution can display, making graphics crystal clear and providing even greater viewing pleasure than the best HD televisions.
Gaming with a 4K television
As yet, there are few products available for a 4K television screen, because technology for once is well ahead of the companies which might produce compatible products. None of the gaming systems like Playstation 4 or Xbox currently offer 4K gaming products, so the best setup available for 4K gaming is with a PC connected to your television. All that extra resolution does require more power from a PC or laptop, so some additional expense might be necessary for best results from your machine.
The newer UHD televisions all make use of HDMI 2.0 technology rather than the old 1.4, so when this is coupled with a PC video card which also has HDMI 2.0, you will be able to see the maximum 60 frames-per-second (fps) that most games are created with.
Future enhancements
There is little doubt that in the future, this will all come together in spectacular fashion. The 4K textures displayed on the UHD televisions will display the tiniest features of any gaming scene, even in the corners of the screen, to provide the most satisfying and thrilling gaming experience that anyone could hope for. Gamers will be able to sit closer and still see a highly detailed image, with the broadest possible field of view.
At present, there are tantalizing glimpses of what this future will be like, and hooking your PC into your 4K television will open a window into that future. The really exciting part of that is that from this time forward, more games will be specially made for 4K, and all the support pieces will begin to be developed and made available, and 4K gaming will become an amazingly rich, immersive experience.
