A Note to Remember Gala – Feb. 9, 7-11 p.m., Blumen Gardens, Sycamore
An evening of elegant musical entertainment! A Note to Remember benefits Sycamore music programs. Admission for this adult-only event includes musical entertainment, elegant sweet and savory hors d’oeuvres and dessert buffet, coffee bar, raffle and silent auction. A cash bar will be available. Tickets are $30 each.
Sweet Heart Dance – Feb. 9, 6-8 p.m., Genoa Middle School
Girls/boys grab your Mom, Dad, Grandma, Granddad or family friend and prepare yourself for an evening of fun, dancing, contest, prizes and refreshments. The DJ will play your requests and the crowd will get into the excitement. Each young lady will receive a corsage and commemorate photo. Space is limited so register early and save money. Those who pay at the door cannot be guaranteed a corsage.
Ethan Bell Band at the Sandwich Opera House – Feb. 9, 7 p.m.
With their skillfully led instrumentals, creative cover mashups, and new songs that blur the line between country, pop and hip-hop, The Ethan Bell Band has been humbly compared to their influencers – Zac Brown Band and Florida Georgia Line.
POLARpalooza Winter Festival – Feb. 10, 12-4 p.m., Hopkins Park, DeKalb
Family-oriented winter activities include: Ice Skating, Scavenger Hunt, Snow Sculpting, FREE Hot Chocolate, S’mores Roasting, Photos with the POLARpalooza Mascots, Snowman Building Contests, Winter Crafts, Fat Tire Bike Rides, North Central Cyclery Hockey and Figure Skating Demonstrations & More.
Daddy-Daughter Dance – Feb. 10, 4-6 p.m., St. Mary’s Memorial Hall, Sycamore
Spend a special evening with your special little girl this Valentine’s Day. Enjoy music, dancing, and hor d’oeuvres. Each young lady receives a flower and photo with her dad to commemorate the event. Ages 2-12 with Parent.
Shades of Buble – Feb. 10, 8:00 p.m., Egyptian Theatre, DeKalb
A Three-Man Tribute to Michael Bublé brings the swinging standards and pop hits of Michael Bublé to the stage in an unforgettable high-energy concert event. This act has been wowing audiences around the country with exciting harmonies, smooth choreography, and charming good looks.
Winter Wonderland – Feb. 13, 5-8 p.m., NIU Adventure Center
Kick off the winter season! Enjoy a fun evening out ice skating with your friends or skip the gym and step in some cross country skis for a good ole fashioned wintry workout. Treat yourself to s’mores and hot cocoa around the campfire. Drop by the Adventure Center anytime between 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. to check out equipment at no cost for this special event and hop a free ride to/from the East Lagoon! FREE! No registration is required!
Valentine’s Night at the Capitol Room – Feb. 14, 6:00 p.m., NIU HSC Capitol Room
Area performance group, Wooden Box Theater, will showcase local theatrical performers, themed fashion walks, featured vendors, hoop performance, and live music. Admission is free and open to the public.

Safe Passage Love Over Violence Event – Feb. 15, 7-10 p.m., Blumen Gardens, Sycamore
Valentine’s Day themed fundraiser will include an evening of hearty appetizers, drinks, dancing, and a date-themed basket raffle. Additionally, Glidden Florist of DeKalb has donated their time and resources to provide a bouquet-building station for the guests.
Jon Secada Live at the Egyptian Theatre, Feb. 16, 7:30 p.m.

Daddy-Daughter & Heroes Dance – Feb. 23, 6-8 p.m., Hopkins Park Terrace Room, DeKalb
“Daddy Daughter and Heroes Dance” gives little girls a special night out that includes pictures, desserts, contests, a special memento, and dancing. This event celebrates the bond between a little girl and her father or male role model and the impact this relationship can have as girls grow into women. The NIU Police Department along with other local law enforcement and fire department agencies are partnering with the DeKalb Park District to escort any little girl who is in need of a date.
