Open Houses will be held this week regarding the updating of the DeKalb County’s Unified Comprehensive Plan. The meetings will offer county residents a chance to view future land use maps and express their opinions.
The meetings do not include formal presentations, but the Planning and Zoning staff will be on hand to answer questions and listen to residents. Drafts of the future land use plan, the future transportation plan and the unified comprehensive plan goals and objectives can be viewed at the meetings. The plans also can be viewed on the county’s website at DeKalbcounty.org under ‘Hot Topics’.
The Unified Comprehensive Plan shows where land in unincorporated portions of the county should remain agricultural and where residential, commercial, industrial and recreational development should occur and guides the DeKalb County Board when making decisions on zoning or development. The county comprehensive plan was last updated in 2003.
The open houses will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. this Tuesday, January 11th in council chambers of the Genoa Municipal Building, 333 E. First St. in Genoa; from 7 to 9 p.m. this Wednesday, Jan. 12 in the second floor council chambers of the Sycamore Center, 308 W. State St. in Sycamore; and from 7 to 9 p.m. this Thursday, Jan. 13 in council chambers of the Sandwich City Hall annex, 144 E. Railroad St.
