Are you a musician who wants to better understand the language of music? Whether you are a beginner music theorist or an avid music theory nerd, visit the DeKalb Public Library on Saturday, April 19, at 2:00 p.m., to gain a better understanding of music theory. We’ll go over the basics of music theory and analyze its application within the context of popular music.
Instructor Jack Watson is a composer and musician with an extensive background in both music theory and music education, and won the Outstanding Arrangement award at the 2024 DownBeat Magazine 47th Annual Student Music Awards.
Prior experience with musical instruments is not required but highly recommended. This program is for teens and adults and is first come, first served as space is limited. It will be held in the Nancy D. Castle Collaboration Studio.
