Kimberly Barrios, American Family Insurance Agent warns, WATER LEVELS WILL RISE– Save yourself the headache and get flood insurance NOW! Flood insurance is a SEPARATE policy. It is NOT included in your homeowner’s insurance and it has a 30-day WAITING PERIOD. This means that after you purchase your flood policy, you must wait 30 days before your coverage kicks in. Don’t wait until you NEED this coverage or it will be TOO LATE!
As the weather warms up, melting snow will SATURATE the ground and WATER LEVELS WILL RISE. This can cause “FLOODING” even in areas where “FLOODING” is not usually of concern. If you are not prepared with the proper insurance coverage, this could spell disaster!
Those with concerns about their sump pumps failing or their sewers backing should also ACT NOW! Moratoriums are likely to be issued on sump pump and sewer back-up insurance this spring. This means that Insurance Companies will STOP issuing this type of coverage until after water levels have receded.
If you have concerns about sump pump, sewer back-up of flood coverage, talk with your insurance agent of give my agency a call. We can help!
The Federal Government sponsors The National Flood Insurance Program. This is the only program to offer flood insurance and the prices are the same regardless of what agent or agency you shop through.
