(DeKalb) – The Friends of the DeKalb Public Library is sponsoring its first silent auction of autographed first editions and fine-condition books signed by some of the most beloved names in literature and illustration. These literary treasures have been generously donated by library supporter Mary Marshall.
The Signature Shelf: Autographed Books Silent Auction is on Sunday, September 21, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., in the Yusunas Room, DeKalb Public Library, 309 Oak Street. The event is free and open to the public.
The collection includes titles for both children and adults, signed by the authors—and in some cases, the illustrators. Featured autographs include many well-known authors, including E.L. Konigsburg, Mary Engelbreit, Jan Brett, Madeleine L’Engle, Jean M. Auel, Philip Pullman, Cathy Guisewite and Wynton Marsalis.
Bidding ends at 3:30 and the winners will be announced soon after. Those placing the winning bids must be present to win. Payment may be made by cash, check or credit card.
In addition to the silent auction, the event will include a table of books from the Mary Marshall collection for sale at a set price, refreshments, and a children’s craft table.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the library for programs, books and materials.
