Join Campus Recreation for the fifth annual Homecoming 5K Run/Walk, which begins at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.
NIU’s “Run for a Better U” 5K is an out-and-back race, and the terrain is flat and fast.
The race route starts and ends at the Student Recreation Center on the southwest corner of Lucinda Avenue and Annie Glidden Road. The race winds around the Huskie Football Stadium, the Convocation Center, through the Outdoor Recreation Sports Complex, around the residence halls and then back to the Student Recreation Center.
Pre-registration ends at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9.
Each pre-registered participant is guaranteed to receive a T-shirt (size not guaranteed) and a goodie bag. The fee is $25 per person.
Register online using a credit card or with your bursar account (current students only). If paying by cash, check or Huskie Bucks, register at the Campus Recreation kiosk located at the NIU Student Recreation Center. Make checks payable to Northern Illinois University.
Race awards are determined from chip timing results. Awards given to first, second and third overall male and female 5K finishers.
Awards will be given to the top female and top male in each division:
- 14 and younger
- 15 to 20
- 21 to 24
- 25 to 29
- 30 to 39
- 40 to 49
- 50 and older (masters)
- wheelchair (first place male and female only)
Bicycles, in-line skates, roller skates, other wheeled vehicles (except wheelchairs and baby stroller/joggers) and dogs (except assisted dogs for individuals with disabilities) are prohibited.
