The City of Sycamore Building and Engineering department has issued a construction notice in relation to roadway improvements tentatively scheduled to begin soon after Memorial Day. Prior to roadway construction, property owners have the opportunity to replace their water or sewer lines.
The first phase of roadway work is tentatively scheduled to start soon after Memorial Day. The City will post and/or distribute additional notices as they receive more detail on the contractor’s schedule.
Prior to roadway construction, the City provides all property owners with the opportunity to replace their water or sewer line. Please note that the private water and/or sewer service work must be contracted and paid for by the property owner. Since the road will be under construction the roadway can be patched using the following methods resulting in a cost savings to the home/business owner.
• Grind and Overlay Areas- The roadway can be patched with concrete in lieu of concrete with asphalt on top.
• Roadway Reconstruction Areas- The excavated area can be left as gravel. (Please note that it must be maintained until road construction. High traffic areas may require cold patch.)
Please contact Mark Bushnell, City Engineer if you are interested in replacing your water and/or sanitary sewer service prior to roadway construction. Please do not proceed without contacting the City as we need to verify service locations.
“Thank you as we work to improve the City’s infrastructure.” said Mark D. Bushnell P.E. , City Engineer City of Sycamore T: (815) 895-4557 mbushnell@cityofsycamore.com

Yep, knew about this – they marked the street last fall and remarked/surveyed it a couple weeks ago. Going to be a dusty mess this summer but will be worth it.
