Join the Shabbona Hometown Events Committee and the community in celebrating our country’s Independence Day. The Shabbona Main Street Parade captures the essence of both America’s freedom and small town rural living with proud participation from our local military heroes, American Legion, fire departments, farmers, and local clubs and businesses. The parade starts at 9am this Saturday, June 29th, 2013, and is located along Main Street in Shabbona.
Immediately following the parade is the Shabbona Hometown Festival. Vendors, Crafts and Food Booths will be open from 10am – 4pm. The Hometown Festival will include rides, games, inflatables, and fun for all ages and will be located at Purdy’s Lot, 301 N Illini St., Shabbona. At 12:30 p.m. participate in the Ice Cream Eating Contest sponsored by Screamer’s Ice Cream. At 2:00 p.m. watch the Kids Water Fights sponsored by Shabbona Fire Department.
On Sunday, June 30, 2013, the Festival continues with a 1:00 p.m. Co-ed Volleyball Tournament (registration at noon) and 1:00 p.m. Fire Department Over-head Water Fights (registartion at noon).
Thursday, July 4, 2013 the Shabbona Fire Dept. will host a “All You Can Eat” Pancake Breakfast from 7:00 – 11:00. From 4:30 – 7:00 the Lions Club will host a Pork Chop Dinner. Fireworks start at dusk on the 4th and are sponsored by the Shabbona Fireworks NFP Committee. For more information, please visit http://shecevents.com.
