The DeKalb County Coroner’s office has announced the discovery of a second body in Fairdale. Jacklyn Klosa, 69, was pronounced dead at 10am Friday April 10 at her residence. The cause of death was listed as injuries sustained from the tornado that struck Thursday evening.
Geraldine Schultz, 67, was discovered Thursday 8pm at her home in Fairdale. Her cause of death was also due to injuries sustained from the storm.
Rescue and recovery efforts continue. LP tanks are strewn about the village and some are leaking. Debris is hanging from trees and buildings that could cause death or serious injury. Power has been turned off until the search and rescue effort is complete. A total of 17 homes were completely destroyed in Fairdale. Most of the 71 homes in town were damaged.
