The Sandwich 4th of July Freedom Days run this Saturday and Sunday, July 4th and 5th, 2015. Their parade kicks off at 10:00 a.m. sharp on Saturday. Line up starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Sandwich Fairgrounds. Enter at the west entrance; 1401 Suydam Road.
Fire Department Water Fights are also on Saturday. Kids Waterfights are at 5:00 p.m. and Firefighters Water Fights will go from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m..
Sandwich’s Tot Trot, a free event with no pre-registration required will be on Sunday, July 5, 2015 with a 7:45 a.m. start at Knight’s Park. Children ages five (5) and under are invited to tie on their running shoes and race to the finish line. All runners will receive a participation award.
The Sandwich Freedom Run, will also be on Sunday, July 5, 2015. This 32nd annual event will begin at James Knights Park (1001 North Latham, Sandwich). Events are open to all who are physically fit and sufficiently trained. Both events described below are runover flat city streets. Registration forms are available at the David A. Francis Center at Knights Park or click here. A tee shirt is provided to the first 100 entrants. The race will be chip-times.
One (1) mile Fun Run (373401-1)
Fee: $14.00 if registered before Saturday, June 20th. $22.00 on Race Day (7:00 am – 7:45 a.m.) Time: Steps off at 8:00 a.m.
5K Race (373401-2)
Fee: $20.00 if registered before Saturday, June 20th. $28.00 on Race Day (7:00 am – 7:45 a.m.) Time: Steps off at 8:30 a.m.
The weekend ends with a great Fireworks Display on Sunday, July 5, at dusk. The Sandwich Park District is pleased to sponsor the annual fireworks display located at the Sandwich Fairgrounds. Concessions will be available to purchase. Bring your blankets and chairs and save your spot for the a great night of family fun for all ages to enjoy. A donation of $5.00 per family is appreciated.
