Once again the City of DeKalb Police Department is hosting a prescription drug disposal event at the new police headquarters, 700 W. Lincoln Highway from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, April 26th, 2014. This event is coinciding with the Police Department’s open house which is open to all members of our community. The new police station will be open to the public from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and they welcome everyone to stop by and tour the facility.
Unused/Expired/Leftover prescription drugs can be brought to the police headquarters during this event for proper disposal. The old method of flushing discarded prescription drugs down the drain is no longer an acceptable means of disposing of them, as they will eventually make their way into the streams and rivers, possibly causing a dangerous and deadly situation. Putting unwanted medications into a waste container is equally unsafe, as this leaves them accessible to children and unsuspecting wildlife as well.
Please take the time to join them in this environmentally safe and all around responsible way of disposing of unwanted / unused prescription medications. NO LIQUIDS OR NEEDLES please. For more information call them at: 815-748-8400.
