On Tuesday, October 21st, 2014, at approximately 1:30 p.m. DeKalb Police received a 911 call from someone who advised he was attacked while on the walking path near the DeKalb County Health Department. He advised the suspect was a male/white subject wearing a black coat and blue jeans. The victim told responding officers that he was struck in the head and then dragged into the ditch where the suspect continued to attack him. Officers from surrounding police agencies responded to the area in an effort to locate the suspect. Area schools were locked down as a precautionary measure. DeKalb Fire Department transported the victim to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for treatment. The victim was treated for a minor injury and released.
DeKalb Police spoke to the victim upon his release from the hospital. Through investigation, it was learned the victim, for personal reasons, falsely reported this incident. The victim was subsequently released pending further investigation.
