A long overdue project of renewal and remembrance is underway at the District, this week. The landscaping around the William McAllister Memorial stone outside the Golf Course Clubhouse had overtaken the stone, nearly covering the plaque. Now staff is working on clearing out some of the existing foliage and establishing smaller shrubs and grasses to compliment this special memorial.
Mr. McAllister was instrumental in the establishment and early success of the Sycamore Park District and in 1923 he became the first president of the Board of Commissioners.
