Farm Show Schedule Added!
The Northern Illinois Farm Show has been tagged ‘The Essential Ag Event in the Midwest’. With over 8,000 attendees and 200 local and leading exhibitors, the 32nd annual IDEAg Northern Illinois Farm Show is a convenient venue for producers in northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin and eastern Iowa to meet with agribusinesses under one roof. The show will feature a multitude of highly informative and strong educational programs developed by the University of Illinois Extension Services located in the main meeting room.
The complete seminar information has been developed by the University of Illinois Extension – DeKalb County, DeKalb County Farm Bureau, and DeKalb County Soil & Water Conservation District. Annual Private Pesticide Applicator License Testing will be conducted on-site by the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
The Northern Illinois Farm Show takes place this Wednesday and Thursday, January 8th and 9th, 2013 at the NIU Convocations Center, 1525 West Lincoln Highway in DeKalb. The Show goes from 8am to 4pm Wednesday and 8am to 3pm on Thursday. No Pets allowed at the show, this includes pets on leashes (unless ADA approved service animals)

Wednesday, Jan. 8
8 a.m. Show opens
9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – Marketing Outlook sponsored by Allendale, Inc.,presented by Paul Georgy.
10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Pesticide Applicator License Testing conducted by the IL Dept. of Agriculture
11 a.m. – 12:00 noon – “Ag Technology from Drones to Phones and Other Neat Stuff” presented by Russ Higgins University of Illinois Extension; Ryan Stoffregen, Advanced Crop Care, Inc.;Trent Sanderson from Sanderson Ag; and Mike Richolson, Natural Resources Conservation Service. Presenters will discuss the newest technology devises used in crop scouting, web based programs to manage your maps and crop planning, phone apps and more. This session will also include updates from the Northern Illinois Agronomy
1 – 2 p.m. – “Soil Health and Northern Illinois Cover Crop Panel Discussion”
presented by Mark Bramstedt, NRCS Resource Soil Scientist; Russ Higgins, University of Illinois Extension; Mike Richolson, District Conservationist with NRCS; and a local producer panel. Presenters will discuss what it takes to maintain a healthy soil in agriculture. A panel of local producers will present insight into growing cover crops in Northern Illinois.
2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – “Weather Forecasting” by Candice King, Chief
Meteorologist with WTVO TV Channel 17 and Fox 39 in Rockford. She will
discuss how she prepares her weather forecasts for the state line area. Candice grew up on a dairy farm near Ridott, Illinois and is very familiar with how quickly weather can change in the Midwest and how it impacts the agriculture community.

10 a.m. – “Biodiesel: America’s Advanced Biofuel” sponsored by the Illinois Soybean Association. Get the latest information about this domestically produced, sustainable fuel and how it impacts Illinois farmers. Get tips for storage, use and handling of your diesel fuel for trouble-free operation.
10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Pesticide Applicator License Testing conducted by the
IL Dept. of Agriculture
