A student at Northern Illinois University has died after suffering an apparent medical emergency on Monday. Campus police do not suspect foul play.
According to a statement, the university has been in touch with the student’s family and is working with counseling services to assist the campus community.
A university spokesman confirms the student was found deceased in the art building.
Statement:
“NIU is deeply saddened to confirm that a student died on campus this morning [Monday] after likely experiencing a medical crisis. NIU Police do not suspect any foul play in the matter and the university is working to support the student’s family during this difficult time. The university is also in process of reaching out to and supporting the student’s faculty, classes and friends.”
