…Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from midnight tonight to noon CST Monday… …Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Monday evening through late Monday night…
* timing…late this evening through Monday morning.
* Wind chill values…15 to 30 below zero.
* Main impact…frostbite can occur in a matter of minutes under these conditions.
For the Winter Storm Watch…
* timing…Monday night through the predawn hours Tuesday.
* Accumulations…some areas possibly seeing over 6 inches.
* Main impact…untreated roads will become snow covered resulting in difficult travel. Visibility may be reduced to around one quarter mile at times.
* Other impacts…the dry nature of the snow and increasing winds early Tuesday may result in blowing and drifting of snow…particularly in open areas…even after snowfall has ended.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
A Wind Chill Advisory means that the wind will combine with the very cold air to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors…make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow…sleet…or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
