Chief Mike Acosta said, “He will be good for the community”.
Ayala replaces Chief Mike Acosta, who was chief since December 2009. Chief Acosta was in law enforcement since 1976, including 31 years at the Kane County Sheriff’s Department. In his tenure at the Kane County Sheriff’s Department, Acosta was Commander of KCART, which is an accident reconstruction group; Commander of the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force; Captain of Investigations; Worked with Internal Affairs; and was Commander of Administration.
Chief Acosta’s retirement date is May 14, 2016. Ayala’s first day on the job will be May 3, 2016.
