DeKalb, IL—The DeKalb Park District seeks public opinion for naming the new pool at Hopkins Park. As construction continues with an anticipated Summer 2026 completion date, the District wishes to invite the community to play a role in its future by helping choose the new pool’s official name. The Board of Commissioners and staff have narrowed down several potential names, but the final name will be chosen through a bracket-style showdown and voted on by the public.
Beginning January 16, the District invites community members to submit their own creative name ideas for consideration through an online form. This form will be accessible on the District’s website, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn), as well as e-blasts to their newsletter subscribers.
Once submissions close, eight names will enter the bracket-style quarterfinals where the public can vote for their favorites. The top four names will move to the semifinal voting, and last two standing names will face off in the final voting round.
The winning pool name will be announced on Friday, February 20th following board approval on Thursday, February 19th.
