The DeKalb Park District has two commissioner seats (one 6-year term, one 2-year term) up for election in the April 4, 2017 Consolidated Election.
To be eligible to serve, a park board member must be, on the date of election, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, a registered voter, and a resident of the State of Illinois and the park district for at least one year immediately preceding the election. Elections are non-partisan and board candidates do not indicate a political party affiliation. Candidates should be aware of financial conflict-of-interest limitations set forth in state law.
Park Commissioner candidate packets are available for pick-up at the Hopkins Administration Office (2nd Floor), 1403 Sycamore Rd., DeKalb, during normal business hours – Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
Important Dates for the 2017 Consolidated Election
- September 20, 2016 –first day to circulate nomination papers
- December 12, 2016 – 8:30am first day to file petitions with the local election official (Amy Doll, DeKalb Park District)
- December 19, 2016 – 5:00pm last day to file petitions with local election official
