The Sycamore American Legion Riders, Genoa American Legion Riders, Heartland Hospice, and DeKalb County Forty and Eight are working together to Honor our Senior Veterans by having a Motorcycle/Motorcade Parade of Vehicles on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Anyone with a motorcycle, car, truck, or any street-legal vehicle is encouraged to participate. While Honoring our Senior Veterans we can also show our respect to all seniors and our healthcare workers at each facility.
We are seeking veteran and non-veteran participants to be in this parade of vehicles. Please come and join this event to thank our senior military veterans, other seniors, first responders, and healthcare workers.
Rain or Shine, staging will be at the Sycamore HyVee Food Store, 2700 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, Illinois, 60178 from 8:15 am to 8:50 am, followed by a safety briefing and parade starting at 9:00 am. The riders will drive to eight different senior living facilities in DeKalb and Sycamore and Honor Our Senior Veterans by having participating vehicles decorated with American Flags and other Patriotic items and honking horns as they drive around their senior living facility twice.
After the parade, the group(s) are planning to gather together and watch the POW/MIA Ceremony at the Genoa Veterans Home, 311 South Washington Street. This parade will be the 13th Annual Veterans Weekend which started on July 26, 2008 at the DeKalb Taylor Airport.
