The public is invited for free to come visit the WWII Military Reenactors Living History Encampment at Algus Packaging Inc., 200 North Peace Road in DeKalb, Illinois (on Peace Rd. just North of Route 38) this Saturday July 28th, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Come out and see the reenactors and the display of historic artifacts and period crafts. The encampment will feature WWII reenactors but there may also be other military era reenactors.
Then at 4:30 the focus changes to a patriotic motorcade to honor all current military personnel and all veterans. The motorcade will include motorcycles, cars and trucks. They will meet at 4:30pm at Algus Packaging Inc., 200 North Peace Road in DeKalb, Illinois.
The motorcade leaves at 5:00pm and will travel through DeKalb westbound on Lincoln Highway (Route 38) to North First Street, north on North First Street to Sycamore Road, east on Sycamore Road to Bethany Road, west on Bethany Road to the DeKalb Area Retirement Center – Oak Crest and will stop at Oak Crest where there will be a 5:30pm program to honor all sixty one Oak Crest resident veterans. The public is invited to attend the program.
At 6:00pm the motorcade will leave Oak Crest and will travel through Sycamore going east on Bethany Road to DeKalb Avenue (Route 23), east on DeKalb Avenue to Center Cross Street, north on Center Cross Street to State Street, east on State Street to Airport Road, south on Airport Road to Founders Field in the Sycamore Park where there will be a 6:30pm program at Founders Field honoring all current military personnel and all veterans.
Following the program the DeKalb County Baseball Liners will play their final home game which will be followed by fireworks. The public is invited to be in the motorcade (please put patriotic flags on your vehicles), watch the motorcade and attend one or both of the programs. Hosted by the DeKalb County Fourty et Eight.
