The Fourth of July is when we celebrate our country’s independence. In the 1860s, however, it did not look like the whole country would celebrate independence on the same date for long. This Thursday, July 3rd, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. the Sycamore History Museum will be hosting Dennis Maher for the monthly Brown Bag Lunch talk. He will explore, “Civil War Casualties and Prisons.”
The Museum’s exhibit, “General Dutton’s America” features the story of General Dutton’s life, 1839-1900. Programs through the year will expand upon topics introduced in the exhibit. The fact that the Civil War had more causalities than any other war, helps us to better understand Dutton and his encounters during the war.
The Sycamore History Museum’s Brown Bag Lunch is free, but donations to the museum are always welcome. The Lunch will take place at the Sycamore History Museum, 1730 N. Main Street in Sycamore.
