The Kishwaukee United Way Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Andy McFarlane as its new Executive Director. McFarlane brings over 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and service management to the position.
McFarlane’s prior leadership includes experiences with several YMCAs throughout Illinois and Indiana, where he directed program development, strengthened membership engagement, and built cross-sector partnerships that advanced community impact.
His community involvement includes service with Sauk Valley Voices of Recovery, the local public school system, and community health coalitions, as well as leadership in the Kiwanis and Rotary service clubs. He has also supported United Way initiatives since 2001.
McFarlane holds a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Springfield College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Human Services from Western Illinois University. He has completed additional professional development in non-profit management through his past leadership roles and continues to seek lifelong learning opportunities.
As Executive Director, McFarlane will focus on strengthening fundraising and resource development, advancing transparent and accountable operations, enhancing partnerships with agencies and stakeholders, and supporting measurable improvements in education, health, and economic mobility throughout DeKalb County.
