Kishwaukee Fest presents The Lincoln Highway Pre-Parade Kruise Night and Community Parade this Friday, July 30th. Cars, Trucks and Hot Rods of all ages and vintages are invited to help kick off the “Lincoln Highway Parade” The cruise night will be before the parade along the parade route (see map). All Cars, Trucks and Hot Rods will start at the beginning of the parade route (Taylor Street & 7th Street) and cruise Lincoln Highway from 6:pm to 7:pm and will lead the parade units along the Parade route.
The Kishwaukee Fest Parade will kick off at Huntley Middle School at 7pm, go up 7th St. to Lincoln Hwy., travel West through downtown to 2nd St., and end at the Van Buer Parking Lot on Locust. According to their website, Kishwaukee Fest is “One of the greatest American traditions of all time; a hometown parade and this is one of the first events that the Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition is taking on a significant role. All Lincoln Highway communities in and along the corridor are invited.” The theme of the parade is Through the Years. Come out for some free family fun Friday evening and be part of this great American tradition in downtown DeKalb.
The parade is part of a weekend celebration, DeKalb County Kishwaukee Fest. At 7pm Saturday evening, the return of the Festival of Champions Drum and Bugle Corps Competition will be at the NIU Huskie Stadium. Veterans will be honored on the football field during the Show.
