Kishwaukee Fest has begun in DeKalb County so make sure you take time to participate in this truly great American tradition. The week long Festival features Concerts in the Park, a Friday evening Parade, and Saturday Drum & Bugle Corps Show. In addition to the main events there are additional activities, entertainment and attractions to showcase DeKalb County listed below. The Twilight Parade is hosted in DeKalb and kicks off at 7:00pm, Friday, July 29th. The Drum Corps Competition caps off the week at Huskies Stadium. The Concerts in the Park features the DeKalb Community Band (Tues.), WIRED Youth Concerts (Wed.), and U.S. Navy Show Band (Thur.). The Friday night (7:pm) Parade is held in downtown DeKalb, and the Drum Corps Festival of Champions show is at NIU Huskie Stadium (7:pm Sat.). Other events include Jazz at the Mansion (Mon.) and Salute to Veterans at DeKalb Airport (Sat.). One of the greatest American traditions of all time is a hometown parade and this Friday night event is one of the first parades created to celebrate the uniqueness of DeKalb County. This night time parade gives an opportunity to create a family time environment. It provides time before and after the evening parade to enjoy the best downtown DeKalb has to offer. From exciting shopping to delicious meal options. After the parade there will be bands playing outside in downtown DeKalb as well. You can create a family outing to remember!
