KishHealth System recognized employees for years of service at the 13th annual Employee Recognition Banquet, May 11, at the Duke Ellington Ballroom, Northern Illinois University. Donna Newsom, Laboratory, Kishwaukee Hospital, was honored for 50 years of service and Delores Werner, Patient Access, Valley West Hospital, was honored for 40 years of service.
Donna Newsom
Donna Newsom’s healthcare career began in 1964, as a high school diversified education student working in the Sycamore Municipal Hospital Lab as an aide. She worked her way up to medical technologist and graduated from Northern Illinois University. She is now the clinical development and point of care testing coordinator for the Kishwaukee Hospital Lab. “Patient care has been my top priority all through my career. The fact that my job constantly changes with new technology, updated equipment, and different procedures keeps it interesting, challenging, and exciting,” Newsom said.
Delores Werner
Delores Werner works in the Patient Access Department at Valley West Hospital. She began her career in the department and has had various titles along the way such as registration clerk, switchboard operator, supervisor, manager, and is currently the senior representative in the department. Werner said, “I have enjoyed being part of an organization that is so important to our community. Although I have seen many changes in our healthcare system over the years, I know the number one priority has always been our patients and the care they receive. I am proud to say I work at Valley West Hospital.”
