A portrait of Jacob Haish that recently joined fellow barbed wire barons Isaac Ellwood and Joseph Glidden in the new “Founders Gallery” on the first floor of NIU’s Founders Memorial Library, will be dedicated at a public ceremony on Tuesday, October 9 at 5:00 p.m.
During the ceremony, local historian, Steve Bigolin, will speak about the history of DeKalb’s founding fathers, including Haish.
The portrait once hung in the Haish Mansion in DeKalb, before the home was demolished in 1961. It was salvaged by members of the DeKalb Masonic order and hung at their lodge for decades until it was moved to Founders Library recently.
