Three outstanding retired professionals who were awarded with the honorary title of emeritus status in September were recognized during the Illinois Valley Community College Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday. Resolutions were presented to faculty members Diane Christianson, Laura Hodgson Block, and administrator Jamie Gahm.
In Board action, the Trustees authorized the acceptance of proposals for an additional provider who could offer virtual clinical therapy. The current college mental health provider offers services during school hours, but “to better support our students, we are actively exploring ways to extend mental health services to evenings, weekend and during college breaks,” said President Dr. Tracy Morris.
In her monthly report, Dr. Morris noted Eagles Peak received a record number of visits in September. In the fiscal quarter ending in September, the pantry served more than 200 households with a total of 720 people – including 300 children.
A final fall enrollment update showed enrollment was 2 percent higher than last fall at the same time, and students enrolled for 3 percent more credit hours.
In other action, the Board:
- Proclaimed October Domestic Violence Awareness Monday to recognize a partnership with the Safe Journeys domestic violence agency.
- Renewed a contract with student account billing system TouchNet.
- Learned of the appointments of Sandra Safranske, custodian, Brianna Mariani, copy center/auxiliary services assistant, and Kate Struckman-Johnson, public services librarian.
