Indian Valley Theatre would like to introduce Kari Frantzen playing the role Bernice Lundstrom, the pretty, young, dreamy waitress at The Bunyan in Northern Minnesota who wants to pursue a singing career. However, her fiancé, Kanute Gunderson (played by Brian Pross), wants her to stay home.

Kari Frantzen
Kari has been a member of IVT since 1998 and has performed in countless productions including favorites: “Once Upon a Mattress”, “Sound of Music”, “Steel Magnolias” and several times in “Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. She was Assistant Director in “Sex Please We’re Sixty” and also filled in as Hillary Hudson two weeks before opening night when another actress had to unfortunately drop out. Kari is a teacher and the Program Chair for IVT Children’s Summer Workshop.
Kari wanted to audition for ‘Don’t Hug Me’ because it sounded like a funny show (which it is) and she would get to talk in a funny accent. She adds that “it has been fun getting to know new people and working with other IVT friends onstage.”
In real life Kari is a Social Worker at Sandwich High School. She and her husband, Matt, who is also an IVT member and doing lights and sound for “Don’t Hug Me”, live in Sandwich with their 2 children Jaden and Logan. The family has enjoyed performing together on the Opera House stage on several occasions. “This show has been fun and I have enjoyed being Brian Pross’ fiancé again onstage. I love the character of Bernice as she is clueless, ditsy and flirty and I love playing those kinds of roles.” Kari hopes everyone enjoys the show and the great one-liners. She guarantees you will leave laughing during this cold/warm, crazy weather February.
