Illinois State Treasury Booth on I-Cash Saturday

The Illinois Treasurer’s I-Cash program helps tens of thousands of people each year discover and claim old bank accounts, uncashed paychecks, unpaid insurance benefits, and other unclaimed property. Bonnie Jefferson will host a booth in the DeKalb Library’s main lobby to assist patrons in this field this coming Saturday, February 24th from 10:00 until 1:00pm. She will be able to check the system for unclaimed property and, in the case that there is some, she can assist patrons with the paperwork required to claim the property.

I-Cash is an official government program that is legally required to safeguard recovered property of Illinois residents for as long as it takes to return it to its rightful owners. Under the law, the Illinois Treasurer’s Office secures unclaimed property from banks, insurance companies, utilities, and other institutions across the country that have been unable to return it to their rightful owners. Some common examples of unclaimed property include: inactive bank accounts, unclaimed life insurance benefits, utility refunds, stocks, matured CD’s, and other investments.

One-in-four Illinois adults discovers property to claim when they search at IllinoisTreasurer.gov/ICASH. Stop by and let Bonnie assist you with this process! This booth will be available to all patrons; there is no need to register for a time slot. Assistance and information are FREE.
