While nothing can guarantee that you won’t become a victim of identity theft, you can take specific steps to minimize your risk and minimize the damage if a problem develops. Identity theft is one of the fastest rising crimes in the country that everyone needs more information about. Come to Lincolnshire Place in Sycamore this Thursday evening, June 7th, from 6pm-7pm to learn more from the Illinois Secretary of State Police.
This class will raise awareness so that people have a better understanding of how identity thieves work. The three D’s of identity theft can make it more difficult for identity thieves to steal your personal information. You can DETER identity thieves by learning how to safeguard your information. You can DETECT suspicious activity by routinely monitoring your financial accounts and billing statements, and you can DEFEND against identity theft as soon as you suspect a problem by taking the steps outlined in the presentation. The instructor will be Betti Caldwell, Law Enforcement Liaison.
