LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNITY EDUCATION SEMINARS “WHAT, WHY, AND HOW WE DO THINGS” The Sycamore Police Department is hosting a series of educational seminars designed to give the public a closer look at how Sycamore police officers go about their jobs. They hope these classes will give the average citizen a more in-depth look at the law enforcement field. These free classes will be conducted at the Sycamore Police Department and while no reservations are required an RSVP would be appreciated. Those interested can call them at 815-865-3435.
The following classes are coming up:
- May 4, 2017 7:00pm HOW DO THE POLICE COLLECT EVIDENCE? This seminar focuses on crime scene processing and separating TV myth from reality. We will discuss and demonstrate how detectives process crime scenes and collect evidence and what happens to that evidence after it is collected.
- August 1, 2017 7:00pm WHO AND WHAT ARE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS? What are school resource officers? This meeting will give you the chance to meet with and speak to our school resource officers, and find out how they impact the lives of our children.
- September 5, 2017 7:00pm WHY SHOULDN’T I SEND THIS GIFT CARD TO THE IRS? During this seminar we will discuss common scams and how to avoid them. Investigators will discuss who is at risk and how victims are targeted.
- October 3, 2017 7:00pm HOW DO THE POLICE INVESTIGATE ILLEGAL DRUGS? Drug investigators will give you an investigators viewpoint of current trends in illegal drug use. They will discuss how we conduct illegal drug investigations and talk about the rise in heroin overdoses.
