Celebrating the Past, Planning for the Future
Hope Haven is celebrating its 20th anniversary serving the homeless and the community. Join them this Thursday, October 21st at the Westminster Presbyterian Church at 830 N. Annie Glidden Rd. in DeKalb for the celebration. Attend their 20th Anniversary get together and discuss how our community can continue to support the homeless.
From 5:30 – 6pm there will be cake and punch. From 6pm – 7pm a ‘New Expansion Question and Answer’ period is scheduled. Hope Haven’s Mission is “to provide shelter and meals to DeKalb County’s homeless, to assist the homeless move into stable housing, and to advocate for the rights of the homeless.”
The hoped for expansion will be on their own property and will not require local tax dollars. Currently Hope Haven has to turn away county residents in need every night and 98% of those they serve and those they turn away are DeKalb city residents. Only a few months ago some were homeowner tax paying residents. Many in our community live only one or two pay checks away from being in need of a homeless shelter. Please plan to attend this gathering to find out more.
