Discover the stories of ordinary and extraordinary people buried at Elmwood Cemetery including a number of prominent past citizens of both Sycamore and DeKalb such as US Congressman Reuben Ellwood, and several Civil War Veterans. Join the Sycamore History Museum this Sunday, October 7th starting at 1pm for their it’s annual Elmwood Heritige Cemetery Walk.
The Elmwood Cemetery Gates, at the Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore, have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since November 28, 1978. The gates mark the entrance to Elmwood Cemetery and were erected, according to the date emblazoned on an archway over the gates, in 1865. The Cemetery Walk begins at the mausoleum where you will get to look inside.
