(DeKalb) – The DeKalb Township Supervisor’s office provides financial assistance to qualifying residents through two financial programs. General assistance provides temporary, needs-based assistance to individuals who are not eligible for any other state or federal assistance programs and are underemployed/unemployed or have applied for SSDI/SSI and are unable to work due to a disability.
The DeKalb Township will host an informational booth in the DeKalb Public Library’s main lobby on Tuesday, August 5, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
The Emergency Assistance program assists qualifying township residents with alleviating an “emergency” or “life-threatening” circumstance. This may include rental assistance to avoid eviction (must have a 5-day notice or a ledger showing a past due balance) or utility assistance to avoid disconnection. Residents that are eligible for TANF/AABD/SSI are not eligible for Emergency Assistance.
In addition to Financial Assistance, the DeKalb Township Supervisor’s Office has an Employment Specialist who is available to DeKalb Township residents to help with resumes and cover letters, email updated area job listings, and assist with other job-related needs.
DeKalb Township also offers many free services including Notary Public, Fax Services, free access to computers and printers, etc. Please visit www.dekalbtownship.org to access their Community Resource Guide, to view Township activities, and to view other available community resources and events taking place in DeKalb.
This informational booth will contain brochures related to the Supervisor’s Office Services; General and Emergency Applications and information; Employment Specialist information; and listing of upcoming Township events.
This booth is free and intended for adults. No registration is required.
